Our Vision
Our vision is of a feminist, peaceful world where all power relations—those based on the patriarchal system first and foremost—have come to an end, and where women’s human rights are implemented, protected and defended; a world where substantive equality is the norm.
Our Mission
Our mission is to spread awareness of feminist rights at the local, national, regional and international levels; contribute to women’s equal, influential, and unobstructed participation in life; and advocate for the protection and strengthening of women’s human rights.
Our Values
WWHR is a feminist organization with the following core values:
Autonomy: WWHR works independently from any political party, government, or religious institution.
Idealism: WWHR does not shy away from issues that may seem controversial or complex. If it sees the potential for making a positive contribution, it will strive to produce bold, creative, and the best solutions possible.
Equality and Non-Discrimination: WWHR works toward the full equality of women and the eradication of any and all discrimination based on gender and sexuality. Employing and promoting feminist values toward the full equality of all people, WWHR is against all types of discrimination based on sex, gender, age, race, religion, language, political or other opinion, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, health status, disability, birth, marital status, migration or refugee status, or any other statuses. WWHR exercises due caution in its work to respect the human rights of all people and eliminate all forms of discrimination.
Solidarity and Network Building: WWHR is committed to working as part of a collective movement that operates on different levels in an interconnected manner in order to strengthen women’s voices and influence. WWHR believes that the patriarchy is universal and considers diversity valuable. It therefore places importance on solidarity, network building, and forming connections between different groups. It values solidarity and cooperation with all levels of the women’s movement (local-regional-national-international), as well as with other rights based groups, as necessary.
Participation: WWHR strives to ensure participation and embraces participatory decision-making mechanisms at all levels of its work. It is open to new and innovative practices related to gender equality and democratic citizenship.
Non-hierarchy: WWHR embraces feminist principles, spending effort to build horizontal structures and prioritizing non-hierarchical organizing with everyone on equal ground in its work, dialogues, and relations. It also adopts an approach foregrounding equal relationships and open communication in its collaborations with other organizations, platforms, and networks.
Anti-Militarism: WWHR is an anti-militarist organization, and as such firmly opposes all forms of violent politics and practices.
Non-heteronormative, Non-homophobic, and Non-transphobic: WWHR is against all heteronormative, homophobic or transphobic approaches, policies, and practices.
Respect for Difference: WWHR respects diversity, labor, experience, knowledge, and opinions.
Transparency and Accountability: WWHR embraces the principles of integrity, honesty, openness, transparency, and accountability on all levels of its work. It ensures that funds are used responsibly in all of its activities, and employs the mechanisms necessary to this end.
Environmentalism: WWHR’s feminist vision embraces an environmentalist outlook that acknowledges our responsibility regarding the environment, climate change, and climate justice, with full awareness of the intersectionality between environmental issues and gender-based discrimination. As all humans depend on ecosystems and ecosystem services for survival, WWHR considers climate change a political and ethical problem and endeavors to be environmentally conscious within a gender equality framework.
